Softening vinyl tubes

Hello,

I’m in the proces of attaching the vinyl tubes to the back of the Trumpeter Patriot containers, but the vinyl tubes are not soften enough.
Does anyone has a suggestion how to soften them so I can slip them over the attaching points ?

Not my area of expertise but perhaps warm them up? A low (heat) setting on a hair-dryer? ), a soak in hot/warm water?

Hi Brian,

I tried a hairblower, but the time of softening them and attaching them is too short.
Since their are two ends to soften they become rigid again too fast.
But thanks anyway for your suggestion !

Why not replacing the vinyl tubes with 1,5 mm copper wire? It can be bend to the desired shape and then glued?

Goodmorning H-H,

Thought about that, but how to attach the wire to the connection points ?

Drill holes. But here’s another option - get heat shrink tubing and use that. One size larger ought to do it.

Sorry about that Gé, as I say - not my area of expertise, but I’m sure someone amongst the good folks of Armorama will have a solution.

Drill out the copper wire and slip it over the pins, maybe?

On motorcycle kits, I cut off the pin, and drill a hole. You can drill through a length of hex rod and use it as a fitting if you like.

Cut off the molded pins and drill out holes in their place. Use short sections of wire (brass, copper or steel) in the ends of the vinyl tube and insert these into the holes.

In other words, reverse the attachment method so that the tubing plugs into the molded parts rather than plugging the molded parts into the tubes.

Hmmmm…Two SF guys typing the same thing at the same time.

LOL! That’s why an A-team only needs 12 guys on it…

For everyone watching - how many SF guys does it take to replace a lightbulb?

I dunno - how many?

Would some solid nitrile rubber o ring cord work? They make them down to 1mm and its cheap and easy to work with.

I always thought there were only four. Of course, B.A. is worth nine by himself.

The whole 12 man ODA and a case of beer. One GB changes the bulb while the other eleven reminisce about how tough Light Bulb Changing School used to be back in the day - with a beer in each hand, including the guy changing the bulb. (It can be done - I’ve turned a wrench with a beer bottle in my hand.)

WHY? That’s dangerous! You could spill the beer; and that’s alcohol abuse! The Army was always warning us about the dangers of alcohol abuse.
