Damn… now that almost finished my scratchbuild.

Can be pulled by the MTLB.

Wow! I’ve never built anything newer than WW2. This may change that. I love this gun and crew set. They look fantastic.

I’d like to build a small dio of a frontline Ukrainian gun position. This set in a sandbag ringed emplacement, a small trench and another smaller sandbag emplacement with an 12.7mm NSV on tripod with optic for long range mg and limited indirect protection.

That’s the way it goes. I spent 2 years scratchign out a Marder I and finished right before both Panda and Tamiya released theirs in plastic.

The same thing will happen if I decide to build a 7,5 cm PaK 40 auf Zugkraftwagen Somua MCG S-307(f).

Looks like the Soviet BS-3. ( 18th Machine Gun Artillery Division. Kuril Islands . 2012.)

I was just thinking that: something at long last to be pulled by my MTLB!

What model should I start scratchbuilding to please some of you when it will be released in styrene?   Maybe a M2 Amphibian for both Bundeswehr and British Army?

Would love to get one of these but with an East German crew!

I wasn’t almost finished, but I did start a scratch build a couple of years ago based on another gun. Good to see this one out. I was copying a photo of one being towed by a Kamaz early on in the Ukriane conflict. (when the talking heads said there would be no invasion)

NVA gun crew would be the hardest part.:frowning:

At least Hornet makes the heads.
I have a couple NVA figures from D-Day miniatures and an old set of ICM I think some where in my stash

Richard, I’m not too sure of the number of soldiers required for this piece, but these might be a starting point; obviously swap for Hornet Heads, and thereafter modify uniforms as per my efforts re the East Germans I did some time ago on my RMP Munga dio. Relatively straightforward I should think, although that is, I admit, supposition:

Ammo replacement a necessity too I should think.

Yes that’s a great idea Brian. And I remember your Munga project very well!

And mounted on, too, don’t forget. There are images of the gun on top of an MT-LB out there, HP(?) put one in the thread on modelling the Ukraine war.

Two 1/35 resin/3D kits are available of the 7.5cm Pak40 MCG Somua - from KM Model and Brach. The Brach kit is fantastic (from photos the KM kit not quite so much) so no need to scratchbuild it.

A good GDR NVA video on the MT-12.

Yes what’s great video of this thing! That barrel is SO long. The kits barrel looks shorter to me for some reason. Was it made with different lengths??

I was unaware that anybody still used direct fire artillery. It seems so 60 years ago.
