Strange, I get the idea but not the execution. Doesn’t look like a Marine Wildcat or do I recall having a cartoon on his plane.
Maybe the cartoonish wolf ( or is it Wile E Coyote ? ) is just a nod to the official emblem of the unit ?

USAF F-16A block 15 #82-0928 painted to represent #85-1565 from the Iowa ANG is on the ramp in Sioux City IAP on June 30th, 2022. The jet is painted with a commemorative anniversary paint scheme that replicates the unit’s 50th-anniversary gold jet as it appeared in 1996. The 2022 redesign of the 185th Air Refueling Wing static display was unveiled as the Air Force celebrates its 75th Anniversary this year :

He was with VMF-121 Green Knights when flying Wildcats. They had a cartoon Bugs Bunny on their WW2 patch.

Maybe, one of two shirts.
No pictures have been found but there was MarDet to fly Tomcats. USMC was to have 4 squadrons. A member of the DET told me one day a VF-124 jet did have Marines painted on one side for a very short time. I think I had the possible plane narrowed down to build one day.

@Tank_1812 Ryan, you are correct. Those VF-84 Jolly Tigers were the best scene in the entire Hollywood history. One of my most favorite movies. It shame the Marines never became fully operational with her. But, then again that had some other cool jets from that ear…Crusaders! Btw, nice shirt.

@barnslayer, I’m with you on this. In fact at one time I had saved photos of the F-14A Tomcats that were used in that movie with 2 Japanese kill markings. I will look for them and post them here.
