Speedster and a Samba Service Truck

I’ve been working on an anti-g speedster, which has been a fun project, which is largely done:

This started life as a 1/20 scale F1 car, now reworked into this! I was just about to call this project done, but, as you can see, I purchased a set of Hasegawa Ma. K. figures, which includes two pilots and two mechanics. This is all fine when being used as a group when they are near a hangar, but, what if the speedster were to break down somewhere remote? how would the mechanics get to it???

Well, they’d have a service truck - and that is what I’m now working on:

Et voila! a Mccue/Samba inspired anti-g service rig! While the speedster looks speedy, this is not intended to look speedy, and instead almost ponderous, something that would levitate only at low elevation and slow speed.

On we go! thanks for having a look -

No kidding - when I saw the photo I thought, “What, he’s building 1:1 stuff now?”

Well guys, yes, anti-g part two is well underway - and chunky it is:

Our ace mechanic hard at work, pulling this together - finishing up by the cab, and getting after the frame

And now it’s a dually!, well, a nod to the Chevy square body - it won’t get axles -

And how about some air brakes??? perfect for slowing down and steering -

More styrene to add -

Making progress on the cab - adding various parts, which are drawn from both McQue and the Samba:

and, as a bonus, made this:

Guess what this is!, or will become -

A drone?

Not a drone! but a good guess :grinning: This service rig has four anti-g units, one on each corner, but, nothing for thrust, so for that, I went with a propeller!

Last week was hectic, so didn’t get much steady time for this and found myself working on it for short periods of time when I could, and made some real progress:

And above, you can see the big prop!

I added all sort of odds and ends - the anti-g units, landing gear bay doors, and on and on

If time and the weather allow, I’ll start painting tomorrow

Thanks for having a look -

@justsendit Ha! yes!!

@KoSprueone, well KSO, not too far from that!

It was nice yesterday, so I painted on the base - and @KoSprueone, you’ll be pleased to see an old friend here:

Incredibly subtle, understated green! I liked this on recent build, so used it again. It’s art store spray green - and above with some accent colors, and a wash on the crane - and for fun, some progress pics:

Wheels and decals…and first weathering:

followed by a layer of my favorite, Lifecolor Dust 1:

And for fun a few more:

So it’s coming right along - a bit more to add, picking out some details and fixing anything I don’t like -

Thanks for having a look

again a fantastic concept. Personally, I would have given the “samba” a more cobbled together look, by painting different sub assemblies different colors…

Fantastic imaginative build… From a thought comes a perfectly viable vehicle. Paint looks great with a the few different tones . … it’s very very clever :+1:

Thanks gents! Tis has been a really fun project - and I think I might try again on something else some time - for now, I’m calling these two done!

@golikell, hi Erwin, you know I thought about both of our points - opted out of the cobbled look, as I didn’t want this to look like a McQue airship, and instead, more like his industrial looking vehicles - and for more color, well, it came in the form of extra parts added to the bed -

So, with final pics in hand, out we went:

and together:

and finally, the time warp:

So, quite a project!

Thanks for having a look!
