Maybe a lack of social skills? After all, he hardly ever responded to any comments given to his build (though specially Johnny kept feeding him) and if he did, the replies were very curt…
I hoped he would open up a bit more and talk about his building process more with the feedback I was giving him … Oh well … You can but try …
I was really enjoying watching this build.
That is commendable of you, but it didn’t really seem to work…
Where is he posting now Ski?
Over at SMA, JP. https://www.scalemodeladdict.com/
where do you get those heavy weights?
I think he left the site
@Johnnych01 he also left https://www.scalemodeladdict.com/ in a very similar way to here around the same time too (early January).
I had to look after seeing the comments above as I wanted to see the conclusion to this diorama. The woodwork was looking really good and I was looking forward to how he approached the upper floors. Basically on SMA he got feedback in the same vein and tone as he did here, got his back up then just disappeared without explanation. This was after posting his diorama progress pretty much up to the same point as above. So I didn’t get to see the finished product!
When I start posting build logs (hopefully only within a couple of months when my removal stuff arrives!) I give broad permission for any one on here to give me a slap up the head if I don’t take feedback/suggestions/corrections in the same spirit with which they’re provided!
I personally love constructive feedback , criticism in all walks of life, some people can only handle praise, not saying thats the case with him I have no idea, i felt his stuff looked fantastic
so where do you get those heavy weights?
Sorry mate, I don’t know. I just searched for something similar on the Googleator but no luck. They look very functional and the holes on the flat side seem to have a thread in them which could mean something screws in there. I’m sure someone on here knows what they are.
An alternative would be an off cut of u-shaped RHS. At our local Bunnings Hardware there are off cuts that are in the scrap bin from various RHS sizes and most scrap materials below a certain size are free to good home as they’re too small for 1-1 use. Maybe you have something similar near you that you could check out?
Yes, It was a shame he left, as he was a very gifted building constructor and dio builder going into great detailing levels. Some people react differently to critique which is just one of those things I suppose. Shame though

Amazon has them as well.
Steel block with hole or machinist block in google will find you lots of options.
I myself ordered this one a while back. With no holes you can use them to straighten wire back out.
He was good, a little more research and learning from good advice from members here (sure other places as well), he could have been a great modeler.
I ordered these from Amazon a while back, they were dripping with machine oil when I opened the package. When I eventually cleaned them up, they rusted within hours! Sent them back to Amazon immediately for a full refund. …
Not recommended.
Milage may vary, but you have been warned.
Ryan’s no-holes blocks look to be a better option. I may give them a try whenever I get back to the bench.

Back to ‘Spoils of war’…
Really too bad the OP split the scene, I enjoyed his creativity very much. However, I sensed the turmoil from the onset and thus, I remained silent with exception to hitting the “like button.”

My blocks had a very slight hint of oil but nothing to write home about. Learned about using the blocks from one of @Igmar videos.
