I am working on this resin figure. This is my first post on this forum. I purchased this figure third-party off of eBay in a set. The set was originally a set from Evolution Miniatures, but someone took casts of the figures and is selling them. I’m not going to make a habit of purchasing pirated figures, but since I needed two large sets I decided to take a gamble. Normally, recasts lose detail and shrink but these turned out well. The figure I’m working on is the one on the top. He is garbed in a white smock. I created a sling for the Kar 98K out of paper stiffened with CA and some blue painter’s tape. The strap looks like the one for the Kar 98K photo I provided. More photos soon,
-Regards, CK

Forgot to mention this, the picture I took of the figure built is before I put the gun sling on the Kar 98K
As I’m working on a LAH Grenadier in pea dot camo, I’ll be following your build and paintwork with interest!

Thanks! Is he in regular uniform or winter like this one? Not sure that they had camo like that in winter, especially in 1943 since Dot 44 came out in 1944.
no mine will be a summer version

Ok! I recommend looking at Calvin Tan’s blog for some good photos of 1/35th Dot 44. He did a an SS Tanker last year for Royal Model’s box art and it would be a great piece to look at to have for reference. PERSPECTIVES IN MINIATURE: Search results for Waffen SS Tank Crew 1944-45
I would also recommend getting the SS camo set from Scale 75 or the set from AK. I’m pretty sure AMMO makes one as well as Andrea Miniatures. I have not painted Dot 44 as I have not had the correct paints until recently. I got some paints from Scale 75 that will allow me to do that on future projects.

I finished the winter smock and started on the overcoat. Sorry about the glossy sheen, the Vallejo paints haven’t dried fully. I will highlight the overcoat and post pictures. In the pictures the smock looks different than in person. That happens with pretty much every model, though. I only need to “muddy-up” the smock. I will do that after everything is painted, though, or unless I decide otherwise.

Sorry that it took me so long to give an update. I wasn’t able to paint for a few days and then, when I was, I couldn’t take pictures because the paint hadn’t fully dried and had a sheen. I finished the overcoat and painted the belt and Kar 98 pouches. Regards, CK

I finished the the trousers, helmet, and some other details. I took a different approach to the rifle than usual, using Abteilung 502 oils to higlight and shadow a Vallejo acrylic base. I used Vallejo acrylics to paint the wood grain. Once I’m finished I’ll post a complete list of the paints I’ve used for specific parts. I had to turn down the brightness on some pictures because the exposure was a little overpowering for the colors.
