Stalingrad The Lazar Chemical works

The term I am using is “Stalingrad flotsam”. Assorted debris in and around the Chemical works. It’s all part of a large scale, (1/25th) diorama. Please don’t ask “what” the pieces of equipment are, they are just “flotsam”.

The cool part, well at least to me is, everything came out of the “spare parts” bin. Fishing lures, trailer I-beams, railroad wheels, and even long stretches of sprue… The master Shep Paine often used the term “gizmology”.

So, I sat down and just started “tinkering”. In aboot two hours I created some external piping, (it is a chemical factory after all), and some generic inside plumbing. Which will be seen through the rubble. The early weathering is not so much rust as it is dirt and grime. Everything came out of the spare parts bin including the curved piping, (kit sprues).

More background “flotsam”. Here are some boxes and Water Well-pumps. One is still under construction. More bits and pieces repurposed

The primed pumps. I surfaced them with the “tried and true”, mixture of warm water, white glue and baking soda.
Pump 2 is industrial, and I probably will paint it red for fire usage.
