Sling for M72LAW with Tamiya tape:
The figure looks pretty darn good. I have enjoyed the way you paint figures for quite a while and this is no exception. Those flexible ammo belts and the slung M72 makes an excellent looking figure look even better.
Wow, that looks awesome! I can’t wait to see the full vignette.
Cutting the base from foam with my Proxxon cutter and custom circular template for it. Will be 12cm in diameter.
Lovely work on show here and way beyong my painting skills
A few comments if thats ok
Face camo would extend to ears and the neck - other whats the point leaving shiny white (in his case) areas. The original source photo shows this
Hand Camo - hands would be camo painted too as shown in the reference photo
Boots - they seem to be all black? is this wet jungle boots (they of course being OD/
Black) there were Navy Seal used boots, coral swim shoes made of nylon duck and rubber soles, but these were a mid grey
Brilliant skills on show!
Good points!
Apparently I missed the hand and neck camo, easy to fix with oil paints. The boots are not weathered yet, they will not be black, thanks!
Testing a local brand of clear Art resin with a tropical beach just for fun
.
Turned out very nice for the fraction of the price of brand modelling resins like AK etc. Can be colored with alcohol based paints like Tamiya or Gunze, also glass paints like Pebeo Vitrail.
Plus some nice 3D printed fish from GSW.
Proceeding with the vignette, small river bank with some rocks from cork, air dry clay for ground base and sealing the foam.
I finally decided to try the VMS Smart mud, developed and used by Nightshift himself as far as I know. I thought it was some marketing thing, but it is really nice and with realistic texture, much better than similar modelling pastes. I will use it in the future projects for sure ![]()
Some static grass, ground scatter and micro leaves. I will blend everything with dark primer and then will airbrush different colors.
The groundwork looks very nice and realistic…great contrast of the colors.
Priming the base with Mahogany surfacer for uniformity, then various shades of green for the grass and earth tones for the ground. That way better blending is achieved.
Next the brushwork on the rocks and ground.
Proceeding with drybrushing various AK3rd gen acrylics on the rocks: grey tones for the riverbed and earth tones for the ground. Also picking the small leaves with Golden olive and some of the scatter with Light earth.
Really coming together. ![]()
