I did as soon as you told me about it.
In my defence I will claim that I have had a bad cough/cold/whatever the f-ck it is
for over a month so my brain is operating at a lower capacity …
That was a reply to @gtdeath13, as he’s pointing out something I also did in the answers ![]()
I’ve dined with the Danes as well - at Flyvestation Karup. Ate whale burgers every day that we weren’t in the field, for a month - and didn’t know it. After reading Floating Coast I feel kinda bad, but it paired well with Tuborg.
Well, us lesser mortals didn’t actually dine with the Danes, that was for the Brigadier, visiting General and other worthies; we just chowed down in our cookhouse in the field, on fare provided by the military chefs, which back then, existed in a Corps in their own right, and generally were very good. We never went short if hungry - often the case when on exercise - and the standard of cuisine as I say, was pretty good.
I didn’t quite see it that way when I was younger and far more junior, and was detailed off for cookhouse fatigues, which cliché notwithstanding, meant peeling a veritable mountain of potatoes.
The preferred tipple of my clerks seemed to be Carlsberg Elephant (we had a brief period of R &R in Copenhagen) which took its toll.
It’s either 5 return rollers per side ,as on the A3. And 3 return rollers per side, on the A
