Found this pics of the M-SHORAD on DVIDS. Rob, is this a new incarnation of the truck?
Does the pic have a description on DVIDS? I can’t find one. I am assuming it is a drone jammer as the turret has no apparent weapons on it.
It looks like an ammo feed in the center of those two pods (with the blue and orange caps on the back) and the pods themselves look like missile launchers of some sort aimed off to the left of the vehicle but not elevated.
Those look like rocket launchers to me. But as of 25 April (my last visit to Ft. Sill, and also the day my daughter got engaged ) the fielded versions still only had the Stinger launcher on one side. The other side was still empty. In the event of hostilities there’s certainly nothing stopping them from adding another Stinget launcher.
DVIDS states:
"Soldiers from Maneuver Center of Excellence conduct a live fire demonstration Sept. 10 2024 at Red Cloud Range, Ft. Moore, GA as part of the annual Manuever Warfighter Conference
Yup, rocket launchers turned to the side and level. I was seeing the rectangular box as the front of the turret.
Better angle on the turret. It looks like each launcher has two rockets. Interesting new smoke grenade launcher array as well.
That is indeed a M-SHORAD with the 30mm autocannon aimed to the right of the photo. The two boxes are the Stinger launchers, or twin 4-shot pods of Stingers.
I think it is an upgrade as the beige radars look different from the circular RADA radars. Leonardo DRS makes several RADA radar designs, as does Raytheon although I don’t know if Raytheon’s can be ground based.
From Leonardo DRS site.
