Syrian T-62 for Valley of tears

Would the trumpeter kit 00377 1/35 T-62 1972 kit be the correct variant for the battle of Golan heights T-62 that had the hand painted camo of green with grey/sand white stripes that was abandoned in an Israeli tank ditch?

Yes it would be the best kit to start with. Some attention to details might be needed.

Gregory, I have had a plan to do that very same tank in a diorama as well for many years- just have so many other projects in line right now that I need to finish.
I believe that tank came from a unit in northern Syria where there’s snow and they either didn’t have time or didn’t care to paint over it.

Go Zvevda if you can.

+1 for the Zvezda kit. It is light years better than the Trumpeter.

Yes I’ve heard great things about the zvesda kit. I have the trumpy kit as well as the old tamiya kit with several AM turrets, wheels and PE.

Which zvezda T-62 would it be, only reason i ask is i found a great deal on the trumpeter kit.

I’m not sure but I think the first kit that Zvezda came out with which is kit #3622. There are two other versions; the 1974-75 kit and I think the last one is with the BDD turret armor. This is off the top of my head, so I’m not 100% sure.

@metalhead85 I’ll keep an eye out for it. I looked at scalemates they had the ones you described. I got the trumpeter kit for $26 with shipping. To me that’s a steal. May do a few of these builds because the camo schemes the Syrians used were really unique.

Yes I have a few in the stash , so much you can do with them , they served in so many places .

@metalhead85 there’s another tank, a T-55 that has a really cool camo scheme. I believe it was destroyed in the Golan heights with an armored column. May have been the miniart box art as well if i remember correctly. Some of these camo patterns are interesting but i also wonder if there wasn’t a CSM out there that was freaking out about it… lol

Zvezda don’t make a mod72 yet. The first release was a mod67 I think but the second was a mod75 which is an easy back date to a 72, just leave off the laser designator over the main gun.

Richard, if I recall correctly Mount Hermon can still be snow capped in June. IMO realistically the tank could have operated in the Qunaitra area very easily and not be out of place.
