Takom 1/16 Tiger I Early

Ok. Finally bit the bullet and started my first 1/16th kit. The Takom Early Tiger 1 in this massive box. What have I done?? Lol

First order of business was the huge tracks. I’m a slow builder so 3 months later I finished the prescribed 2 sets of links 97 each.

I think this will make a fantastic kit when finished.

I hope I do it justice, thanks.

Working on the lower hull. Added some texture to the steel and roughed up the weld beads.

After tracks were done it goes pretty quick. I’m not using the torsion bar suspension, just gluing the suspension arms in place and make sure they’re all lined up.

Hitler finds out they have too many damn roadwheels on the Tiger 1

Ok. Slow progress. Finally finished all of the roadwheels. Had to clean up and fill seams in almost every one of them.

Started getting the hull together. I had to do some severe taping and leverage to get the warped lower hul rear sponsons to line up with the rear hull plate.

I also finished and weathered the intake trunks, as well as the cooling fans and radiators.

I added some plastic card walls that will seal off and compartmentalize the fan towers. I also moved the fan assemblies to rear to close the gap with rear hull plate as recommended by the Tiger 1 info site. It will be seen on such a large kit so I didn’t want to skimp here.
