Takom M60A1 with dozer (part 2)

Last complete build of 2024. Well, almost. Still doing the stowage but the kit is finished. Very buildable but I did have some issues. The fittings for the dozer blade to the lifting assembly didn’t lineup properly. As a result, the fittings on the right as you face the tank are a bit askew. Perhaps self inflicted. Tried to obscure the poor fit with weathering so it wouldn’t look too obvious. Also not real happy with the kit tracks. One piece affairs, they are a bit loose. The real problem is that they are poorly molded. Many of the guide teeth are askew/bent and not all can be hidden between the road wheels. Will replace them with AM.

Built OOB. Once again the restrained weathering does not show very well in the photos. Track represents a USMCR coming out of Kuwait. Thanks for looking.

That looks really great!

I have their plain M60a1. Wondering about the kit tracks?

Good looking build DV. :+1:
That’s Top Smith’s unit as I recall.

PM me if you need replacement decals as I should have a spare set.

It looks awesome. It is a great model. I did it a couple years ago.

The tracks are a soft, rubbery substance that connect with a metal pin as opposed to heated mushrooms. The look really nice and represent T142 tracks well. No issues with mine after a couple of years on the shelf either.

Looks great but 2 things - as mentioned, the gun tube needs to be reoriented. And no antennas?

Great looking build … I got this one for Christmas … I wonder if any were carried by Scammell Commanders during GW1

As always you guys come through. Thanks to James for pointing out the barrel gaffe and thanks to Ryan for the replacement decals on the bore evacuator. Stowage has also been added. Done for now pending possible replacement tracks down the road. Thanks.

That turned out great. If I can make anything close to yours with my kit I will be happy camper.

Btw, question for experts on these dozer blades. Is this same blade that IDF used on their M60? I see Verlinden resin on eBay that is advertised specifically for IDF but if this oob dozer is a same then that is super news for me.

The major difference is that the IDF ran the hydraulic lines from the pump and reservoir to the blade inside the hull and the reservoir itself is armored. The old Academy blade supplies only the blade, but I seem to remember seeing a Verlinden US-style blade that had the needed reservoir and basic hoses and fittings at a show recently, but when I went back to snag it, it was gone.
As far as I know, the Takom US-style blade is the only accurate and complete unit available now.

The blade is a little different as well with extra plates at the lower corners.

Legend makes an IDF dozer blades set.

The Takom blade is correct and complete for a US M9 Dozer Blade setup.

Depends on the time frame. At first the setup was the same, then in the late 70s early 80s they changed the configuration and moved the pump unit in the interior, as well as the lines to the dozer.

If one wishes he can combine the Takom M60A1 and the dozer blade and get a vehicle from the Yom Kippur War:

For the later configuration the hydraulic oil tank can be sourced from various Legend conversion sets that it is included because they erroneously copied the configuration of a Magach 6M vehicle from the Lantrun museum.
