My build of Takom's M247 Sgt York.
Nice job
Very nicely done. I have the old Tamiya kit in the stash, this makes me want to build it now.
Ahhhh yes the Air conditioner killer…
Nice build
Looks good. Any comparisons to the old Tamiya kit (Think the program was still running when it came out. ) Some photos of the one out at the Dixie Valley Range, NAS Fallon, Nv. The MERDC camo was on her (Female cuz if it has tracks or tits It’s gonna be trouble!) from the late 80s till about 7 years ago. (paint held up pretty good in the high Nevada desert (70+ mph winds year round, Summer- 100+F, blazing sun. Winter- below freezing, snow/rain… get rain/ thunder storms in May/June too.) Video is an infomercial for the first 2 minutes. Fast forward. I Flew Into an Active Military Test Range (youtube.com)
Is a shame that it’s sitting out in the middle of nowhere. Someone should pick her up, restore her and put her on display at a museum. But that’s just me.
Thanks, Dan!
Thank you, Robert!
Thank you!
Nice work - very clean. I was stationed with the 3rd ACR in El Paso in the mid 80s, Fort Bliss which is the army’s ADA center. I saw these around base sporting desert grey MERDC.
Thank you very much! I wasn’t up for the MERDC scheme this time although it does look cool!
Hello!
I’m working on one in MERDC right now. I got kinda stuck here:
That’s a great paint job, Pawel!
@TankNut - thanks a lot for your kind words, David!
Recently I got a chance to finish my Sgt. York.
And recently I have built the towing cables using the kit supplied material - a length of copper line:
I have also made the antennae out of guitar string, the tie-down rope from a silk thread and the tip-balls out of white glue:
And that was it actually… After taking down the masking from lights and periscopes this thing is DONE!
Here is how it looks like:
We’ve got excellent weather today, so I took the pictures in full sun, which can be a good thing or a bad thing… I think I’ll take some more photos when the light is more delicate…
Thanks for looking and have a nice day
Paweł
Very nice. It came out great.
My favorite part(s) are the antenna assemblies and how you tied them down like that
That’s very impressive; I also hadn’t quite realised that the beast was so big.
Hello everybody! Thanks a lot for your comments!
@HeavyArty - Thanks a lot Gino!
@KoSprueone - I took that idea from that YouTube clip, where they were having these big exercises testing Sgt. Yorks. It also shows it firing and how the empty cases are ejected - very cool:
@BootsDMS - yeah, big and heavy… This finished this project off in the end, because they said it had problems keepeing up with the vehicles it was supposed to protect…
Very cool video!
