Tamiya 1/35 Panther Type G — Ambush Camo Build & Paint

Hi everyone! Just finished painting my Tamiya 1/35 Panther Type G (kit #35176) and wanted to share the build here.

This one was all about the ambush camouflage — freehand dots with a brush over a three-color base. Definitely the most challenging paint job I’ve tackled so far, but really enjoyed the process.

Colors used:

  • Base: Tamiya XF-60 Dark Yellow + XF-57 Buff (7:3)
  • Green: XF-58 Olive Green + XF-62 Flat Black + XF-18 Medium Blue (6:3:1)
  • Brown: XF-64 Red Brown + XF-9 Hull Red (7:3)

Weathering:

  • Panel line wash with AK045 Dark Brown Wash + AK046 Light Rust
  • Sponge chipping with Buff
  • Pigments fixed with enamel thinner
  • Dotting with AMMO Oilbrusher

Great color scheme

Another great video. Did you use a chest harness for your video camera?

Thank you! The ambush camo was quite a challenge to pull off :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Thank you! I use a camera arm mounted above the workbench — it keeps my hands free while working :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Nice job. it looks like it has measles…

Maybe make a video about how to make a video like you do. Yours are well made. The music goes well with the video.
