Tamiya Easy Eight

Started this guy a few weeks ago, and wasn’t quite sure what I was going to do with it. I’ve ended up just practicing using the stencils and airbrush. I did use one archer decal for the shipping info, but was deeply dissatisfied with how it looked. Kind of going for the late war hodgepodge of painted out/stenciled over look. This isn’t based on any tank in particular, but I have a couple of still frames from a youtube vid of the 4th AD in late march, and a few pics of 8th TB tanks late in the spring of ‘45 that I’m basing it on.

Hope you’re all having a great week!!

I ended up toning down the shipping markings, and overpainted the turret star.

I’m stoked about how the stencils turned out. It’ll be difficult to return to decals after using these!!

The kit is pretty much straight out of the box….I haven’t gone full rivet counter yet, but I’ve been eyeballing those archer casting/foundry decals and wanting to work more with PE stuff. I’m hoping it’ll build up into a nice little kit.

Looks really good, (where possible) stencils over decals every time. Did a crew really agree to that name? I guess if it was called Good Luck & ended up demolished the irony would’ve been lost on the dead/wounded crew, but even so….

HA! My kid was watching me airbrush the vehicle numbers and said “dad, 13 is a bad luck number!” and thus, the name. SOMEBODY’s got to get number 13. maybe the crew did the same :joy:

besides, I think it was Casey Stengel that said “Fellas, It’s bad luck to be superstitious”

Cheers!

Well technically, it’s not “13” but one, three; meaning first platoon, third tank. But it could still be an unlucky tank!
