I have been wanting to build this aircraft in this scheme for quite some time, and have finally taken the plunge and bought the kit when it was a very reasonable £37.45. Will be totally out of box, probably with pilot in place as there are no proper seatbelts. Grey, white and black “arctic” scheme, option A in the instructions. Kit looks nice so will be starting imminently…
Tagging along mate
Hard to beat a Tamiya F-16, and in aggressor markings too. Will be following.
This should be good.
the tamiya harrier on the other hand is a different story.
Welcome on board fella’s, great to have your support.
Proof of progress pic. Everything lining up so far. The front and rear upper fuselage joint had me worried but just a couple of tiny gaps to fill which would probably not even be visible once painted anyway.
Lost the throttle handle when cleaning the parts for painting, eaten by the sink I think! Pilot going in so shouldn’t be too obvious…
And removed the rear fin details on the AIM as pics show this on actual examples of this aircraft.
Paint, finish and install cockpit and paint landing gear bays then can button up the fuselage.
And on towards primer. Fuselage buttoned up. Black primer on deleted panels and to check seam on nose. Cockpit painted, seat still to do but won’t be adding till the end. Spare canopy on loose, will be using tinted on front and clear on back. Tail fins and air intake not attached to make painting simpler.
That built up nice mate. Looks really good, will be nice to see it as an Aggressor as well.
Looking really good.
FYI, when I built Tamiya’s 1/72 version of this kit, I was disappointed that only painting the outside of the canopy frame left it still partly transparent.
I first painted it black so it would look right from the inside, then the exterior camo, yet you can still see light coming through the paint in the right light.
Wish I’d also painted the inside.
Been a while since any modelling has been done by me. Not any more!
Primed with Mr surfacer 1500 black. White is Tamiya LP-35 insignia white. Will let that set fully and mask for neutral grey next.
Good to be back at the table!
Very nice Jim. That is a nice start on the paint. I like those wrap around schemes.
On a side note, I noticed you got the Cr2 TES. I have the RFM PE slat armour which I am never going to use, would you be interested in it for yours ?
Thanks John, I’ve wanted to do this scheme for a long time.
As for the rfm pe slat armour, yes I would be interested in that very much thanks. May break me, but willing to give it a try! Pm me and we can sort it mate.
