What happened to Tamiya Humvees? Why are the kits no longer produced?

This is a good question,
It seems M1025 and M1046 can’t be found anywhere.
Yep same here, I wanted a Cold War Humvee and the best example is the Tamiya weapons carrier. Not one to be seen anywhere even evilbay or good second hand model stores, not a scent of one amywhere.
H.P.
Do someone know this webstore ?
I have just found it and it seems there are a few M1025 in stock.
It would be nice if resin conversions for Tamiya humvees could fit new ICM kits.
Thanks Frenchy. There are some on eBay, but the price range is 50-100 EUR. Ouch!
Low availability makes the price go way up, far more than I’m willing to pay, although I really like the kit.

There is one in Germany remaining, go catch it!

That’s true. They’re out of stock in shops, and the prices on eBay are astronomical. For me (as a Humvee enthusiast), this is a blow. The worst thing is that conversions to ICM will take some time (if they happen at all).
In the German shop from the link, I can’t change the country to another one – the only option is Germany.
Same here.

The Academy kits are not Tamiya clones, but almost as good and better in some areas. They are definitely a good alternative, and they offer versions not a offered by Tamiya. Their undersides are better detailed than Tamiya’s.
Honestly? The M1025 from Academy doesn’t resemble a Humvee. Only the M1151 is okay, but even then, you have to modify a dozen things to get it closer to the original.
That why I go with Tamiya only. ![]()
I don’t think they are that bad, but to each their own. With a little work, they can come out great.
BTW, have you tried ICM Humvees? How would you compare it to Tamiya?
When the ICM released a build animation for their Humvees, I thought the model was overengineered… as if the company was interested in having a large part count instead of buildability.

I have built the ICM M1097A2 kit and thought it was very good. It goes together well and is not over-engineered, in my opinion.
