Anothe progress report.

Added the side gypsy rack mounts from the M1A1 and used brass rod to custom make the front portion. Came out better than I expected.

Looking good. The side bars came out nicely.

Another beautiful side profile of the M1IP. More inspiration.

M1IP of the 24th Infantry Division; possibly 64th Armor Regiment, nicknamed “CAVALIER”. This one is fitted with an early external APU and still has the uncut rear side skirt panel. You can see by the chevron marking on the skirt that it is a Charlie Company, 1st Platoon vehicle. It still sports the fuel can mount behind the storage box and a pair of 20mm ammo cans either welded or mounted to the rear bustle rack.

Those APU’S were a POS…

Yeah; they were. the new ones are so much better.

More turret progress. All it needs now is the main gun and a Tamiya rear bustle rack.

Did you switch out the original mantlet for another one? I don’t recall a solid coax flash hider on the Tamiya kit.

The solid coax shroud is from the original 224A Tamiya M1 kit. Maybe I should’ve gotten the one from the M1A1 kit. And yes, the mantlet is the M1A2 mantlet.

Ok, thanks.

More progress; closer to completion.

All I need to focus now is on the workable tracks from Trumpeter, finding a Tamiya rear bustle rack, add the main gun, paint the road wheels, apply the side skirts, then decals and some weathering.

Great video! Loved the scene of the BMPs jumping into the water!

The old Soviet propaganda films showing the massive formations of tanks and vehicles. Trying to make the old USSR look bigger than what it truly was.

Cracking video! Back when exercises were exercises.

Camouflaged Leopards and Marders going full tilt; T-64s - what’s not to like?

If you weren’t a Cold War modeller before you saw this video - you probably are now!

It’s great that I got to do a lot of that stuff, it’s all gone now.

I’ve said it before, but God, I miss my Cold War!

Nuclear obliteration notwithstanding of course.

I never had the pleasure of participating in any of the REFORGER exercises (by the time i enlisted, Germany was re-unified and the USSR was no more). The closest I could say that I participated in an exercise like that, was when I rotated through NTC in 1993.
