Tamiya M113 1/35

Old school Tamiya M113
I updated the helmets and unis to the 86-88 time period that I was in Europe.

Jungle Boots. Hells Yeah!!

I used AFV Club tracks, which were one link too long on one side. They have a bit more detail, but I thought they would be more pliable and be easier to glue down. They also didn’t fit the sprocket, but the kit I had was, I believe the original boxing, so pretty old.

I also used AFV Club camo net. That’s when the nightmare began. It acts like a decal. Flimsy and delicate. You have about a 40-50% loss rate straight off the top. Instructions tell you to paint it before you soak it in water, but it all comes off, so paint after. And when you’re positioning it, it’s gonna tear and disintegrate. So, I put it all in place, painted the various patches, then sprayed Tamiya Clear and they melted a bit. Highly disappointed and Not Recommended to my worst enemy. How they legally allowed to sell it is a mystery.

Vallejo Pigments held on with Elmer’s Clear/Water mix.

Anyway, Comments and critique are most welcome

I wouldn’t have known you had problems with the camo net. They look good from here.

For the PIA you had with the nets they came out looking great. I love the job on weathering, mud in all the right places. My eye isn’t good enough to critique any constructive feedback, it does however belong on a diorama, haha!

Outstanding job on the old girl Joe. You’ve really done a great job on it. Nice tight build, great paint, and the weathering is right on. Lots of mud thrown up everywhere. Figures are nicely done and that camo net looks like it’s been through some dense brush.
