Let's take a look at Tamiya's new-tool 1/35 M36 Tank Destroyer.
Thanks for the review Fred. I just got this kit last week and it is truly beautifully molded. It will build up into an impressive model and will benefit from a PE set and a hull interior kit.
Looks like a great redo. Only one question, and Tamiya isn’t the only offender, can you put a gunner in the gunner’s seat it you want t show a crew at combat stations? I have yet to find any of the various M10’s or M-36’s that have full cockpit detail to actually allow figures in the turret.
Michael, that’s a good question. Tamiya released an in-action gunner for the M10 in set 35350.
Otherwise, I haven’t found a full set of crew. Tamiya’s early set US Tank Crew, Item 35004 has a gunner.
That gunner really didn’t fit in any open top turret I tried. I finally got it in the AFV M10 with some surgery.
Nice review, Fred. I wonder if Tamiya or the AM folks will adapt this for the later variants?
I hope so. I prefer the version with the muzzle break.
Annnnndd.. I read the French used a few of these in Indochina. ![]()
Yes, they did early in the war. They were worried about Communist Chinese tanks coming over the border in the north of Hanoi.
I have the Academy version which is OK.
