That’s what I’m going for, caked-on dust with still-visible details. So I’ve decided to stop the paint removal and begin dusting. However I will do enough to lighten the whole tank and then evaluate before going on.
I’ve also decided that if I do another T-72 like this, I’ll use a Trump kit to get separate fenders, and what to do with one of the Tamiya T-55s in the stash…
Good plan. They seriously look like the crews do not care about cosmetics at all. Pure functionality only. Engine works, tracks move, gun goes bang. Nothing else is worth worrying about. Which is probably sensible when you consider the difficulties they would have in getting spares etc
Agreed.
I think this is a good place to stop.

Maybe some spilled fuel and oil stains is about all I want to add.
It looks nice to me. Good job.
Really nice job on it Russel. I like the dusty look, very convincing to me.
Man, you got a beater tank there Russ. No love shown that hulk. Beautiful results!
Thanks! That’s exactly what I was aiming for.
I actually have “finished” pics of this, forgot to follow up…

Every tank needs a TC, right? The fig is pieces from the figs box with a head from CMK, Academy IDF torso for the flak vest and maybe Dragon arms.
