Tank Factory

Dont take it to heart @anon80889645 , I and most others here have had the same thing happen when we have started threads. people will add things for reference or general info and sometimes, these may unintentionally go off track on a bit of a tangent. They are not meant to, nor do they detract from your post or content … and they are usually very easily stopped with a gentle and polite reminder like you have done above ---- :+1: :+1:

How detailed are you going to be doing the 3 tanks ? any internal compartments showing , open hubs, engine bay detailing etc ?

I find these old engine lifts very intriguing. Here is one seen at the local Aviation Museum in Lexington, Kentucky. Plus one image found online.

You might want to check out “Wiseman Model Products” in Paris, Kentucky for several assortments of very well done white metal machine shop tools and bottle jacks. Their large railroad car jack in 1/48th becomes a slightly smaller jack in 1/35th.

Here is a similar bottle jack done in 1/35th and being used as a folding support leg for the flatbed trailer. As you can see the two jacks work very well together in this 1/35th scale model.

As I understand it the 75mm main gun was supplied from Germany so you might pose one hanging on that lifting fixture from the overhead gantry. Other guns could be sitting in some sort of custom shipping cradle.

Truly exceptional work with every update, this project’s already in Museum-quality territory. To my eyes it’s absolutely flawless, and brilliant.

I can see the tank isn’t necessarily in its final state, but as a result I’m unclear how it got to its current position without wheels? I’m no expert, but would have thought the wheels/hull would have been finalised before the gun & upper plates were lowered into place? Unless perhaps it’s under repair rather than construction, but even so wouldn’t it be resting on a solid platform to receive the wheels again? Maybe the answer is the overhead crane’s good to lift 16 tonnes, it’s all-up weight?

The tanks will have road wheels on. I am just using this tank for photo purposes. The Hetzer tanks on back order won’t arrive until August. The kits will have complete interiors. Once those arrive some will have tracks on while others will be shown with tracks being installed. I will also have one tank’s main gun being installed.
