Tatra 815 SOT of Czech special forces used in Afghanistan. The base is a 3D model, but the armament looked very poor. Milan Krnac of MMK Models came to the rescue and from him I bought resin and photo-etched parts and decals. These elements were used to create the machine gun, grenade launcher and their shields.
Now that is quite the oddity Piotr! A wonderfully accurate rendition I must say.
Piotr that’s a great job on a unique vehicle!
Wow !
I didn’t know about any 3d model for this truck.
You have made a nice built.
It seems there is an issue with front running boards. They should be attached to the fenders.
I’m in lust. Beautiful kit and beautiful work.
I’ve always had a soft spot for this type of vehicle and what they brought to the field
Tatra makes amazing trucks for the field this one looks like a beast .
Terminator- Yes-you are right. The model in the original was in 1/72 scale. I ordered a 1/35 print and already on the denders it was obvious that many parts were weak. Also the steps. That’s why I ordered resin parts and photo-etch plates. Unfortunately, after removing the “armored” steps the new ones made of sheet metal do not fit very well. My mistake
Oh ok.
I think the original kit in 1:72 scale does not exactly depict an ISAF vehicle, because a few elements were not present on the 2 trucks used during Afghanistan deployment.
I don’t know why new elements were added after the ISAF mission because the unit which used them was disbanded. (SOG=Special Operations Group)
Added elements are:
Elevated rear armor panel,
Side baskets,
2 additionnal seats in the cargo bed, (only 2 in isaf trucks)
Straight roll bar between the sloping armor panels outside the cargo bed while isaf trucks had a roll bar with two folds inside the cargo bed.
Rebuilt storage barriers inside the truck, (in isaf trucks they were made with hesco barrier mesh.)
100% right. Probably no model of any vehicle is 100% perfect. There are simplifications, shortcomings, errors. This model has the same flaws. I am aware of the errors , but I had no desire to do a PhD.
