As far as I know/care, the Tamiya Marder III Ausf. M (Normandy version) is the best M version. Easy build, great figures, good accuracy and detail. For the Ausf. H I think your only currently available option is the Dragon version, since the Tristar version is long out of production and the Italeri version is very, very, very, very old.

HobbyBoss has re issued Tristar Marders, both H and M. I do not know if they are better than Tamiya/Dragon or not.

I’m currently building the H version from Tristar and did the Tamyia M some years ago.

For detail & accuracy, the Tristar / HobbyBoss version is the best, no doubt.

Easy build go for Tamyia.

As far as I know, Hobby Boss has not reissued the Marder III Ausf. H from Tristar. It’s been haunting their catalog for years but has never materialised.

You are right, I quickly looked at scalemates and did not notice that despite the boxart, it said release 202x.

Sorry for the wrong information.

I’m building the Hobbyboss M at the moment. Good details and comes together like a Tamiya kit. It could be it’s a breath of fresh air after my last kit which was that #@$&# sod of an Academy Mark IV Panzer that did not go well. It didn’t like me and the feeling was mutual! It may be the Hobbyboss is a welcome relief to an Academy kit but I think it’s actually good.

I’m also doing some small improvements like adding correct cabling to the radio and some small details, but built out of the box it’s would also look fine. I’ll post a photo when I’m finished.

Hi Mike. Apologies for the delay. I’m a slow builder. As promised, here is my finished model of the Hobbyboss Marder III M. My finishing is not great as it’s all brush painted but overall I think it came together ok.

I added some wiring to the radio and antenna as well as the Notek light, but the rest is out of the box. So, when also factoring in price, I think this kit is pretty good.

Ta but photos always highlight those areas for me to improve on.

Fit was fine. Tracks went together ok. Nothing frustrating or needing surgery. The gun also rotates and elevates so that can be changed if you need to for a particular scene. I added the wiring for the radio and Notek light as it was easy to do and I find it just adds a bit to the finished model.

I bought it for about AUD 54 (USD 35 equivalent) so not too expensive either.
