And today we’re in Omaha! Almost back where it started.
Reminds me of the Line Aquavit (booze) which is aged/matured in oak casks while sailing across the Equator twice. Brew and distill, store in casks, send to the southern hemisphere and back,
bottle and sell when it has returned.
Oak casks combined with the motions of a small ship on the great oceans.
Not sure what kind of ships they use nowadays …
So, since leaving Sprue Bros. in Liberty, Mo. on 2/28, it went a little south to KC, Mo., then southwest to Olathe, Ks., then east across Mo., past my town to Springfield, IL., then from Springfield, northwest to Sioux Falls. SD., and from there southeast to Omaha, NE., where they say it is enroute to it’s destination. What an adventure it is having!! Update: After an exciting day traveling between the sorting center and the distribution center my package has departed Omaha for it’s next undisclosed destination. Safe travels!
And we’re back to ST. Louis!! So, assuming the wandering package arrives in my town in the next day or so, it will have traveled1660 miles, roughly. The distance to drive is 210 miles. Government spending at it’s best.
USPS: United States Procrastination Service ?
I knew a fellow back in my school days who used to make an utterly foul brew he called Swish. He would purchase a retired oak wiskey cask from a local distilery for something like $20, fill it with water, seal it, place it in the sun (from late Spring to the end of Summer), and every day turn it over. After a few months it was ready to “consume”. It looked like swamp water, smelled unnatural, but damn, it was smooth.
Not 18 year old single malt smooth, but for a bunch of college lads… it rocked.
More on topic: ebay purchase delivery times. Go.
Have Guns, Will Travel ?
Peter Principle in action.
My local mailman had decided to start scanning packages as “Delivered” but not actually deliver them. Guess who ended up getting arrested, his reason and logic “people would just blame porch pirates not the mail man” yeah because people dont have cameras every where these days all they had to do was check homes with cameras then check to see if a package had been delivered as claimed.
See my comment on incompetence.
Must have been a true criminal mastermind …
“B-B-B-But they didn’t see me not delivering that package …”
Viking makes their own Linie. You can find barrels lashed to the upper deck of their two polar expedition ships that bounce between the arctic and Antarctica.

My latest USPS experience… Last month, they lost a small package and I’m out $19.29 USD. … not to mention time wasted!
With all that’s going on globally, I’m wondering how spicy things will get.

Commiserations Mike – no idea what your ahem “small package” contained, but my elephantine memory tells me I still owe you a big favour in that respect, I’m sure you remember too. If it’s something that BNA in Oz stocks, I’d be happy to get it and mail it to you.
G’day Tim, good to hear from you!
The lost envelope was just a paint mask which I already reordered from the seller — not their fault, just USPS carelessness. Thought I’d grumble about it here. Of course, I packed more into my latest kart which now makes me eligible to lose 'round $100 USD. … We shall see. ![]()
BTW: I already have a good-standing account with BNA — excellent vendor!
Hope all is well and the Missus is keeping you in line!
Cheers! ![]()

Had that happen about a year ago. 4 kits from SalvinosJr.
OK Mike, well the offer will stand indefinitely anyway. And you join Glenn/Cheyenne on the shortlist for an Aussie award for boosting our exports, thanks on behalf of a grateful Govt! Yep all good here, hope likewise with you ![]()
The joy never stops. I guess the USPS is mad they lost their Amazon contract. All I could think of after seeing this was that scene from Ace Venture pretending to be a delivery person. Maybe I can blame “Jef”
Oof, that is bad.
Rocky obviously I’ve no idea what was inside i.e. its weight, but that box-cardboard looks remarkably like the most el cheapo flimsy type I remember from a past temporary life as a warehouse packer. Useless if it bends & sags as it appears to be doing in the first photo.
Not excusing USPS completely – although I’m guessing it was they who tried to keep it together with the random clear tape repair. Whoever sent it was amateur at best.
