Well, I don’t know Hermann, let us know your views; personally, I’m not a fan of link and length track, but then for me, the models don’t fall within my time frame of interest, but it would be nice to know the good points and the not so good regarding the two.

as for Tamiya kit. there is no lows for me. As for history, Leo 2 A7V is the current standard MBT of the Bundeswehr. A lot mods have been done over the 2A6. The L&L tracks build very well, a great advantage over indy links for me. But of course, you can use AM tracks if you like.
The Leo 2 A7A1 is an Übergangs version before the Leopard 2 A8. Only 17 have been modified to compensate for tanks we gave to Ukrane. Main mod is of course the integration of the Trophy APS. RoG cooperated with KNDS in the making of the kit. What I´ve heard Bundeswehr let no civilians close to the vehicles. RoG kit is a little differnet, rather “crude” done compared with Tamiya. I have my doubts that we will see AM update sets for the RoG kit.

The Tamiya suspension arms do not look right to me (the hollow part) but most of them will be hidden by the wheels.
The Tamiya kit includes the metal barrel and is 10-15 euros more expensive. I like the Leopard version of Revell more but Tamiya is superior as a kit in my opinion, especially considering the price of both kits.
Looking forward to your opinion.

Nikos, metal barrel is NOT included in the kit. But the model has a very good one-piece styrene barrel.

On a side note, I wander how the Tamiya kit compares to Border and RFM offerings of the same version.

In my opinion the AA mount for MG3 is the best made in styrene.

Leopard 2 A7V kits retail here for +/- 50 Euros, so 15 Euro extra for metal barrel is no big deal.

To be fair, it’s Revell molding vs Tamiya molding, plus the Revell tooling is based on a kit that first came out in 2012. Also, they are usually different price points with the Revell kit normally being cheaper.

The biggest issue with the Tamiya kit is the improper number of horizontal slats in the two grilles on the left side of the hull. Not sure how they made this error, when the vertical slats in the third grille are correct. There should be 7 and Tamiya has 10; RFM has the correct number, but the overall dimensions of the two openings just don’t look right (too short? too tall?) and thus the gaps between their slats don’t look correct. although it may look better once painted.
For some I am sure it is no big deal, but it’s irritating to me considering that the rest of the kit is pretty well done.

Are the 17 Leopard 2A7A1s that were ordered converted 2A7Vs, or converted 2A6s? Some of the hull side and glacis details seem more 2A6 than 2A7V.

There were both the German and the Norwegian version at the Roll-out ceremony. I think the pictured one is the German.
