The Mighty Saucer aka Haunebu II from Revell

Hello my friends in this wonderful hobby!

I got this kit from my students (Im a history and arts teacher in Budapest) a few years ago. I still dont understand why they gifted me with this german ufo
The kit is very simple, it has a toylike appearance with a lot of plastic material. The surface was okay but upgraded it with some spare PE from my stash. Built a ramp from scratch. The interior is completely off-scale with huge dials and tiny seats and nothing is visible from it so I didnt built that.
Always liked the german nachtjager camouflages, so I painted it after a He-219 Uhu profile drawing.

Hope you like it!

Excellent job. Maybe that’s why they gave it to you.

I like the way you have painted this- those bold black and red marking strips really pull the attention- the mottled bits over the grey look damn cool as well!

The red swastika stripe will make it a target for allied AA missiles.   Does the belly turret have a Todesstrahl attached?

The turret powered by a nazi witch with arian Vril energy, so the allied missiles never have a chance

And the Haunebu II could easily outrun any AA missile. How could I forget? Great paintjob btw.:slightly_smiling_face:

That is a really well done chicken egg incubator lamp…I mean, flying saucer. :slightly_smiling_face: The black and red areas look like leather. That is a neat effect. The squiggle camouflage is fun.

Very nice build and paint. The added PE and ramp detail looks great.

it looks amazing but I’m curious as I heard a story about this kit now being banned by Revell, something about this being listed as historically accurate which gies against the rules in Germany about Nazi history?

Doesn’t that mean just removing the Swastika from the decal sheet?

I think it’s something to do with not declaring this as fictitious and promoting this as actual fact.

I don’t remember that the kit even had swastikas on the decal sheet.

If it’s Revell, probably not, since Revell Germany would be subject to the restriction on the display of NSDAP logos and other imagery except in clearly historical-reference situations, and a ‘what if’ subject like this would fall outside that.
