The Queen’s Own Gurka Logistic Regiment 1958 – 2018 | Armorama™

I get to grips with Pen and Sword's new offering of the Historical Record of The Queen’s Own Gurka Logistic Regiment 1958 – 2018 and its 800 pages to see if the Gurkas really were a fighting force to be reckoned with!

Looks like a very interesting and thorough book for its size. Didn’t the Gurkhas send an artillery unit to the Falkland’s? If so, I didn’t see that mentioned but I could have missed it.

Richard, the Gurkhas don’t have their own integral artillery; Royal Artillery units sent to the Falklands were:

4 Field Regiment RA
12 Air Defence Regiment RA
29 Commando Regiment RA
Elements of 43 Air Defence Battery, 32 Guided Weapons Regiment RA
Elements 49 Field Regiment RA
Elements from the (then) School of Artillery (now Royal School of Artillery)

Gurkha infantry sent:

1st Battalion 7th Duke of Edinburgh’s Own Gurkha Rifles

I don’t believe any Gurkha logisitic units were involved but perhaps this book could tell us otherwise(!)

Thank you for the information Brian. I have an Osprey book on the Falklands campaign and thought I remember reading about them there.

Well, I don’t think I’ve slipped up; 1982 seems a long time ago now!
