Thoroughly destroyed M113 | Armorama™

Some years ago, I took part in a forum group build to make a vehicle showing damage. Some bullet holes maybe? Or perhaps a dented mudguard? Nah … if you’re gonna do it, do it right.

Interesting. While I wouldn’t expect to see copyrighted photos posted, it would be cool to see photos of the actual vehicle. A cursory Google search didn’t yield anything similar.

I guess that’s the one (US Army SC629847). I’ve cropped the picture.

It’s also on page 44 of Dunstan’s book…

That’s the one. Like @18bravo I also never did manage to find it online, but I’m glad someone has

I later realised that the debris lying between the right side of the hull and the road, is actually the engine block, which I put in pretty much its normal place because it’s hard to see what is and isn’t left inside.

What’s that from? An-Loc? The camera angle suggests that the shot was taken from a helicopter. That level of destruction suggests it was hit by some thing big, either a buried 155mm shell or a 110mm round from an NVA T-54.

Here’s the caption :

So; Charlie went ham on those vehicles. Satchel Charges, mines and RPGs. Talk about heavy-handed.

I lived on one of those things for four years of my life. Sort of makes me sick to see it like this, but great job. All those floorboards and engine access panels ended up hundreds of yards away, I’m sure.

I suspect that feeling is the reason for the article having this “score” so far:

Because I wanted to put this into perspective, I looked at a good deal of other articles, and I seem to have the only one where the negative reactions exceed the positive ones — not just by this big a margin, but in general  I guess most of the Awesome! voters judge it on the technical side, and the Pass voters on the subject.

Thanks. I figured most of the large, lightweight stuff would not be anywhere near it — you can’t see any of it in the photo of the real one, in any case.
