Tiger I Eastern Front 1942 | Armorama™

Here we take a look at another offering in the Tankcraft series from Pen and Sword.

As usual, errors have crept into this work. There are a few on the pages that you show us. This reminds us of the importance of checking by subject matter experts before publishing.

Page 16 says Totenkopf’s Tiger company. was “formed as the 9 company” but it was actually the 4 company at first.

The diagram of the company’s tanks has command tanks 800, 801, 801. Two panzers should not have the same number at the same time in the same unit.

But why do these numbers begin with 8 ? The unit’s command tank was in fact numbered “401”. These “8xx” tanks in the diagram are actually from “Das Reich”. The author mixed up two units.

Page 26 says that Tigers of the 502nd didn’t get stowage boxes before they left Germany, and it draws a Tiger with no box attached. But photos tell us that Tigers were delivered from the factory with Panzer 3 storage boxes at this time.

The model on page 27, beautiful as it is, apparently puts headphones on the loader, which is a mistake.
