Tiger Model: Tiger I | Armorama™

Yep, I got the BIG Box from Andy while he was offering the pre-order deal.

If my count is correct, Scale Hobbyist currently has 48 different 1/35 scale Tiger I models in stock. :flushed: Wow.

Maybe the proposed Tiger I campaign should require building a full platoon of Tiger Is. There are too many unbuilt Tiger I models sitting in closets and on store shelves, unloved. Poor things.

Maybe the campaign should require enlisting the aid of wives and children. “Honey, you need to build and paint this Tiger I model. No, I am not kidding. We all need to do our part to save unloved Tiger I models. It is a world crisis. Yes, I took my pills this morning. Yes, all of them. No, not too many. I am serious. Everyone keeps advocating for dumb things. Well, this is my advocacy. Not enough Tiger Is are getting built and I’m not gonna just stand by and let them collect dust. We need to solve the unbuilt Tiger I plague in our time.”

Maybe up it to a full Company of Tiger Is.

I only have 4 Tigers to choose from. Two Dragon Whitman Tigers and two Otto C Tigers. One from Tamiya and one from Takom. You might poo pawh the Tamiya tiger but it comes without Zimm. I think that is good. We grumble about authenticity if a do dad is incorrect. Otto C’s zimm was very damaged on the front hull and made it unique enough to be an identifying item. I can easily recreate that zimm on the Tamiya kit. Not nearly as easy on the prezimmed tanks. I can always add more detailed doo dads to the Tamiya Tiger. You could call the build Tiger Battalion 2024 with the number of kits that would likely be entered.

Otto Carius…got him covered with the limited issue Tamiya mid-Tiger kit, Dragon kit & Takom kit.

If Tiger Battalion 2024 happens, @Damraska Doug makes a great point, I could see me being enthusiastic enough to try multiple Tiger builds!

>> “I suppose it must now be theoretically possible to build any individual vehicle made during the production run!”

Well, no it’s not.
You cannot buy a kit that OOB makes Tiger “712” even though that Tiger was on public view in the USA for decades.
You cannot buy a kit for the original Tigers of the 503 battalion, though it’s the most famous Tiger unit and hundreds of photos exist.
You cannot buy a kit for the first “Mid” Tigers, though one of them is on view in Kubinka museum, Russia.
And, although Kurt Knispel is everybody’s favourite Tiger man, you cannot buy a kit, or even CORRECT decals, for a Kurt Knispel Tiger.
There’s some way to go yet.

That sounds like we have at least another decade of new Tiger releases from ~six manufacturers coming!

Woot!

Belatedly, welcome Anna-Elizabeth. Given one of your wide-ranging interests outlined on another thread you might also be interested in replicating this little-known early variant…

I modified the box-art several years ago, inspired by a post from a member who insisted that armoured fighting vehicles were actually developed “during the 19th century.” With apologies to those who remember that long ago, ACW re-enactors, David Byrden, and…well everyone really :face_with_peeking_eye:

For a moment I was thinking a Boarder Tiger kit based on the type of art work…
