Today is June 6th

Today is the anniversary of D-Day. 82 years ago the invasion of Normandy began.

And I am deeply grateful for the sacrifices the many made, so that I, aand the rest of us here, had the privilege to grow up, knowing peace and prosperity.

Grateful we all should be indeed! Here in the UK even the weather is paying homage - drizzly rain just as it was back then.

Some years ago I met a man who was born in Kent on 6/6/1944. His dad ran down to the registrar while his mum was laid up and gave him a memorable name. I didn’t believe him until he showed his license, and sure enough his first and middle names were “D-Day Rodney…”. Seems his dad was a fan of HMS Rodney, which was supporting the landings!

I thank everyone of you brave men and women who saved us all from tyranny and oppression especially those that paid the ultimate price.

on a side note it’s my sister’s birthday as well.

it is also Swedens National Day,
not that we celebrate it much when it occurs on
a Saturday or Sunday …

My great uncle turned 21 the day before and died during the invasion.
