Not in that set but in this one:
I don’t know much about TOW or indeed, how accurate it is but it must be a start with a little bit of scratching; there are at least a couple of ex TOW crew on the site so I’m sure they’ll wade in shortly.
No, the Modern Battle Accessories set has an M47 Dragon and AT-4, but no TOW missile launcher.
As stated above, you want their Modern Light Weapons Set for the TOW.
thanks all! is there any information what are other ammunition provided? I have emailed Italeri but i am still waiting for response. I have the set and i`d like to use something, but no information is provided on the content
IMO, the best M220A1 Launcher representation (and the one most widely used) is from the Dragon Marine Tank Killer Team figure set.
It represents a Marine tank killer team armed with both an M47 Dragon and an M220A1 TOW missile ground mount.
The kit comes with a full TOW Missiel launcher, with both day and Night sight, plus two TOW Missile tubes, along with an M47 Dragon and three soldier figures equipped with ALICE gear and M17 Gas masks, typical of the gear used during the 1990-91 GUlf War, but can be painted to be used all the way into the mid 90s, say… Bosnia?
If you want something more modern, then go with Legend… The kit comes with the current configuration with the ITAS -FTL sighting system, which will be correct for Iraq and Afghanistan.
Sure.
The ammo cans are (lt to rt) 40mm, .50 cal, .30 cal. Wooden ammo crate below them is 105mm tank or arty ammo. The others are generic boxes.
Just to precise what i was looking for: TOW ammunition, not the launcher. I see now that i wasn’t explicit enough. I have m151 MUTT with TOW launcher but no missiles. As for @HeavyArty instruction (i lack skills to edit the picture) the tallest and slimmest case to the right within encircled “155mm arty rounds” looks as it might be a TOW missile… could it be right? It even fits into the barrel of TOW launcher, but it is a bit short…
Thanks everyone for comments
In that case, you can buy this set from Legend.
It is made for the Academy M1151 Uparmored Humvee to convert it into an M1167 TOW Armament Carrier and it goes in conjunction with the TOW w/W ITAS turret.
The accesory set comes with 6 missile tubes with the rack, along with the T/E Mount and Battery pack and Control unit.
But $25 for the accesory set might be a bit too much.
Try Shapeways too, looks like they have a bit of 3D printed TOW stuff
I was about to recommend Shapeways too…
1/35 SPM-35-027-TOW-06 TOW missile containers empt (FSGJX5UUF) by samofptr (shapeways.com)
I’ve bought stuff from Samofalov Prototyping and he’s good.
afv club also does one in 1/35 if that’s any help.
Unfortunately, no. They are a 105mm round storage case w/the 105mm rounds, and a 155mm powder cannister w/the 155mm rounds. The Italeri sets do not include any extra TOW rounds. The others have sent good options for TOW rounds.
It depends on which era of the TOW you want to represent.
The Tube-launched, Optically-tracked, Wire-guided missile (TOW) is no longer wire-guided anymore in today’s times. It uses radio frequencies as in the Legend TOW to guide the missile now and does away with the wires spooling from the back of the anti-tank guided missile (ATGM).
WARNING: The Dragon TOW’s figures do not align well with their weapons. The M47 Dragon’s bipod is too short so the gunner is aiming the M47 down on the ground, not level, and the kneeling TOW gunner is also too short so his eyes are not at the TOW sight but at the TOW U-swivel. You will need to have a stooping TOW gunner to align to the weapon sight.
Oh, no worries. I bought it for the weapon system, not for the figures.
He should be good with any of the TOW reloads as he is building an older M151A2 TOW, Tamiya got the name wrong though. No soldier nor the US military ever called them MUTTs (ewe, dirty word). Tamiya got this off an ancient Ford ad that tried to push the catchy name. US soldiers called them either M151s, 1/4 tons, or jeeps.
Or as one of my old First Sergeant’s, a Tex-Mex, pronounced it, his “yeep”
The old Italeri Weapons set came with one reload round for the launcher, plus one molded in the launcher. It actually has the original long launch tube configuration, if anyone is looking to do that variant of launcher.
later standard short launch tube
He doesn’t look too bad… if he’s on higher ground than his target he looks fine…
I’ll have to check out my ground mount TOW figures from that set… I stored them all for moving years ago… by U-swivel, do you mean the traversing unit that is where the launch tube and sight mount upon?
Nothing a little section of plastic rod can’t fix. Same goes for the TOW gunner, you can mod the torso to move it around so that the head aligns with the day sight.
