Just got the new Trumpeter 1/48 Mi-24A Hind-B kit. As far as I know this is the first injection molded kit of the earlier glass nose Hind in this scale, with both Zvezda and Hasegawa having previously done 1/72 kits. First impression is that it looks pretty good. The cockpit has good detail and the weapons look decent. This is the “late” early Mi-24 with the tail rotor on the port side, like the subsequent models. Some minor nits like the lack of the pilot’s collective lever (even the 1/72 kits had it), no seatbelts, and like almost all other Mi-24 kits, no fuselage twist (none of the Trumpeter Hind kits in any scale have it, so why start now?). Also, they molded the gun camera on the front of both inboard pylons when in reality it was only on the left inboard, so the extra one will need to be removed. Quinta Studio has already released a cockpit set for the kit.
Can’t wait to get started once my Quinta set gets here.
