Ah - practically my favourite tank of all time; good work. If I may make one suggestion, it would be to add an antenna.

For some reason we don’t see many of these on the display tables - certainly at shows - and it’s pretty infrequent on here.

Anyway, nice to see!

Thanks !!

I have a few more versions of this Tank, so at least you will see them here…

Very nice. How long did take to complete this kit? What base color did you start with? I have read Cookie Sewell’s review of this kit, and he indicated that it is actually a T-64A. It doesn’t make any difference to me. Sort of like trying to determine the exact shade of IDF grey.
I have this kit in my stash and it has been ‘calling’ to me. Photos taken on your cell phone?

I started in early January.

But since I have a ton of things on the bench, I could have finished earlier.

Base coat was Tamyia TS-28 over Grey Primer.

Yes, pics taken with cellphone

I suspect Sewell is right in the identification and nomenclature. I have yet to make an “A” model, but then mine is also the Skif variant (it’s in the stash so that’s that!) and will be a challenge I’m sure. I built a “B” sometime ago, in fact - two them, and just for conversation’s sake here they are:

However, I definitely want to build the earlier version as the flip-out “gill” armour is so very different (and of course was also used on the early iterations of the T-72, but I’m sure I’m teaching people to suck eggs here). The T-64 was a game-changer in the scheme of things; NATO was very worried about its introduction, as well it might be and I remember the consternation in several HQs of the effect its deployment might have on the balance of (tank) power in the Central Region. The intelligence effort to find out more about it was immense, including the liaison missions breaking into tank sheds - at considerable peril - to photograph details and even to gouge the armour plate with a special tool so that metallurgical experts could pronounce on the efficacy of it.

Interesting days the 70s!

Here’s a couple of evocative photos from the time (in East Germany of course):

Nice model of a nice tank! I was inspired by a photo from Donbas region 2015 to build what was AK version with various upgrades…

Trumpeter made it nice!

The T-64 had the 115mm gun from the T-62 while the T-64A mounted a 125mm, so it’s more like saying US olive drab is the same shade as British bronze green.

What is a 10mm difference between among friends and rivet counters?:slightly_smiling_face:

About the same as the difference between OD and bronze green, or between a 75mm Sherman and a 105mm Sherman.

We modelers will get particular about all sorts of details.
