I am impressed that they walked away.
Dumb question. Drone v turtle tank. Would it, or would it not, be better to disable a tanks tracks with a drone rather than try to penetrate the turtle cage? Once disable then send in something more serious to put a wee hole in the tank? Or am i missing something?
I think Ukraine has a few different tactics.
In this particular case we can see the crew getting out of the tank as fast as they can.
The tank is still repairable, I would assume it needs some new track sections and some road wheels.
I presume that the crew fears something âmore seriousâ could be incoming so they leave in great haste forgetting to close the hatches. A small FPV drone just needs to fly in with something explosive through one of the hatches.
Drones vs still moving tank.
Use a couple of drones to blast an opening and then attack with something serious. After the first few knocks the crew knows they are being targeted and will get away from the tank.
If they continue driving the drones are still more agile and faster. The engine deck of a tank isnât heavily armoured so the drones carrying RPG-grenades have no problems penetrating.
There are also drones that drop thermite oackages on top of the turtle tanks, it burns through the sheet metal barn in no time flat and then continues downward âŚ

5 and 15âs is what you do. You immediately STOP, while in or on top of vehicle observe everything in a 5m circle then out to 15m, if it seems ok disembark and adopt defensive position. Explore the site, if its safe you move, if not EOD.
So, yup its what you do, stop. You never drive by anything that looks out of the ordinary. A 20 minute drive can easily turn into 8hrs. Better to stop for 20 minutes and ensure the route is safe. Because the time you donât stop is when you get blowed up.
Russian command have zero route discipline.
Seems to be becoming a meme these days:
âRussian command has zero [insert anything important]â
