UA soldier in 1/24

Here is a quick build before I get back to my main project, a 1/24 UA soldier figure.

I unfortunately lost my first suite of photos that show what the base model looked like before my modifications, so you will have to imagine what it looked like. One thing I wanted to get better at is sculpting, which is why I am trying to improve much of the model with my own sculpts.

To start, here are the legs, which are practically done except for some detail on the shoes.

For the upper torso, I removed all the molly( I think that’s how you spell it) mounts, shoulder straps, a sling, and hollowed out the jacket bottom. I also reshaped the balaklava to make it fit and look better.

It still needs a bit of sanding to smooth in areas, but overall, I’m very happy with it.

The arms got some work done with getting the hands cut off and adding forearms with spare sprues. I then hollowed out the sleeves, cleaned up the fingers, and added a 3D printed watch with a styrene strap.

I prepared some of the pouches, but there are plenty to claean up still, some 3D printed.

Here are some of the pouches I have already prepared:

I also 3D printed a helmet, and using Tamiya tape and some tiny 3D printed strap buckles, which ended up being fully functional.

Lastly, the weapon will be a Canadian donated C8a2 that is my own design, and some patches that I had custom printed.

There is still obviously plenty to do, but I am hoping they will go quickly. Here are the steps I have planned out:

  • Molly
  • Sculpt the shoulder straps and hoodie
  • Battle belt straps
  • Attach arms
  • Attach all pouches, sculpt dump pouch
  • Patches
  • Rifle sling

Here are also some things I am considering adding:

  • Crotch armour plate
  • ID tape around the arms
  • More tourniquets ( around the shoulder straps )
  • Medical scissors in the vest

Let me know if you guys have some ideas!

I especially don’t know what base to mount him on, but I had an idea of a downed shahed.

Thanks!

Very nice progress on this figure. Did you start with a Master Box kit?

Thanks, and yes, I did. The kit itself was alright and fine out of the box but I knew I wanted to make it more detailed.

What ?

Even laces are part of the extra work. I like a lot your detailing. The helmet and radio antenna are awesome.

Superb work- with some incredible detail like the watch with strap- and the strapping on the helmet too!
