US Armor in Viet Nam

Me too; I have so much I want to get to from different eras. And then there’s my huge figure stash on top of my armor stuff.

Looks like you did an excellent job, with all the trouble.

Been watching this for a while, be careful, your diorama may soon be larger than the actual country!
Great subject, enjoy your build,

Not long after I built up the third terrain section it struck me that something was off about it’s alignment with the visual perception, it was out of balance so to speak.

So this morning I got a notion to make some changes, first thing was to rotate the entire display 90°, this made a huge difference to it’s approachabilty and centered it up in the room better.
Next it was time to add some yardage to the playing field, that meant adding some cantilevered “outriggers” to support the additional groundwork . . .

. . . before installing them to the original table frame I cut some Styrofoam board to match the mating surface . . .

Believe it or not, that’s six hours of work, now there’s room to spread out the defensive perimeter a bit, there’s an M67 in the works that will be needing a place to stay soon and an ARVN M41 close by to fill out the RSV contingency.
More to come on this expansion, glad you took a moment to drop by.

That is huge and impressive. I would love to build a diorama covering that much space because so much can be shown, but I am lucky to complete the small dioramas and vignettes that I have been building.
I look forward to seeing more.

I enjoy all your builds James @ReconTL6, this is the realization of a dream I’ve carried since my twenties, the only thing is I’m so darned slow, and I’m working with a poor man’s budget, but the Good Lord provides, in fact all praise goes to Him for anything I’ve accomplished here. Thanks for looking in and any input is welcome.

Thank you. I put my heart and soul into each project. I wish I was better at building vehicles and worked faster. So many story ideas but too little time.
I think with the amount of space you have on this diorama there is the potential to show so many aspects of the use of the various vehicles you have built. Are you planning on telling any particular story or stories with this huge diorama? Since you have the M88 lifting the conex and have a fuel truck, are you thinking about making a section of this large base set up as a part of a FSB or larger camp facility?
