USMC LVTP7/AAVP7 AMTRAC Reference

Can anyone share some insight in the below camopattern?

That is the Grey Desert MERDC.

MERDC was a camo system used prior to NATO Camo and could be changed for different terrains or seasons by swapping out a couple different colors.

Different MERDC patters.

Gino point out the name, this talks about the when and where.

I think only used by folks stationed at 29 Palms, 3rd AAV BN. Looks like they might be on deployment to Camp Pendleton in the photo.

I would love to try to do this short used add on armor from the Desert Storm era. It looks like the stuff that the IDF uses on their M113s

I like that; kind of “Zelda-ish” look for the Amtrak.

Is there anyone who has a picture of the exhaust (older style) on th AAV7A1? I have tried to find one without any luck. Does it rust/soot?

I think I’m going to assemble this one, I’ve had it in my war reserve for a long time, thanks for the information and photos

Nice. I would personally paint it with the vehicle in NATOflage and the EAAK armor painted in sand for a nice contrast.

Question, I’m just noticing this, but when did these amtracs begin using return rollers? Did they raise the suspension?

When the USMC upgraded their AAVP7A1s in 1997 to RAM/RS spec; they basically took the drivetrain and suspension from the M2 Bradley IFV, including the aforementioned return rollers.

USMC AAVP7A1 RAM/RS.

M2A3 Bradley IFV for comparison; notice the return roller.

Argentine LVTP-7, pre-RAM/RS.

Apparently the same, right down to the space between road wheel 3 and 4

(Looks like a future build is coming my way)

Been interested in adding a Hobby Boss AAVP7A1 RAM/RS with EAAK to my collection.

TO replicate one during Operation Al-Fajr/Phantom Fury, the Second Battle of Fallujah in 2004.
