Agan, it looks great, however, a little explanation of what it is, scale, how you built it, etc. would be better than just showing pics of a completed model.
Excellent work!
I rather like the method of simplicity. Often blogs get too mired with the modeler’s sense of self indulgence. Sometimes it’s just nice to enjoy a thing for what it is.
When I go to museums, as I’ve done over a dozen times this year, I don’t find myself wondering what kind of paint Picasso used.
But for those really interested:
Given that it comes with seagulls and the canvas covers that are shown on the model, I expect this is the kit that was used, not the Takom one:
Even better. My search only lasted as long as it took me to type “USN 5" Twin Gun.”
Very clever build with great painting and weathering. Tide mark is really nicely done as well.
I like it, having built the Takom and been inside one on the USS NC. That said I feel like the rear turret hatch would have been a better opening to ponder the interior.
My girls and I were in one last year. This year we did the Intrepid and I got a good walk around for the Zimi quad Bofors as well, which is begging to be worked on,
It’s amazing how small the area is for 13 guys. Three guys work between the barrels. I could barely stand in the location.
I’ve been in one of those twin 5” Mk.38 mounts on USS Iowa. Damn it is tight in there. The twin 40 Bofors mount is much less claustrophobic
It looks fantastic!
