Value Gear 1/16 Vietnam M113 Accessories sets 1 & 2 photo review…

My first “big” Value Gear purchase and I couldn’t be happier. Each set comes in a large ziplock bag with a backing card. Sets one and two are each $30 and come with a variety of resin cast bits that require little to no cleanup. Also included in each set are a total of twelve M18 smoke grenades and twelve 20-round M16 magazines–all 3d printed.

You decide which set to get (hint—the only correct answer is to get both!) Set one on the left, set two on the right. Some items put on end to see the details.

As I mentioned, this is my first purchase directly from Value Gear and I really could not be happier. From the outset, Steve from VG reached out to let me know the items had shipped and that he included a couple extra items to get me hooked–which he did. When the items arrived, I noticed one of the sets was missing a pad of the smoke grenades. Without a second thought, Steve immediately sent out replacements–fantastic customer service.

The 37 resin cast parts in each set do not have and pour plugs to contend with. With a little sanding or trimming with your razor, they should be ready for use.

You get a healthy amount of resin cast ammo cans, six .50 cal and nine .30 cal. With the obvious exception of the bottom, they are detailed on each side. As I understand, the ammo cans, Marmite cooler, and radios were designed by M36 Modelling and we originally 3d prints. The ammo cans also make some additional appearances in the set with radios or bags on top of them.

Each set also has some generic crates without tops that contain a mixed bag of items–tools, M16 magazine, claymore, M18 smoke grenades. The crates also include details on the sides and rope handles.

Also included in each set are two claymore mine bags. For some added detail. you can add the cloth shoulder strap.

There are several assorted cardboard boxes in each set. They scale fairly closely to the size of a Vietnam era C-Ration box–albeit a little smaller but passable. You would just need to add a sleeve around each box if you intended to use them as unopened rations.

One of the highlights for me were the two metal water coolers. They are really nicely detailed. While I’m not a huge fan of the duffle bags (big blobs of resin), I’m sure I’ll still find a spot for them buried in the M113 interior.

Overall, they more than live up to their name–Value Gear, at $30 each, you can buy both and get way more than the Jason Studio accessory set for the M113. If you haven’t seen them already, be sure to check out the Vietnam era backpack sets by VG–they’ve got ARVN packs, lightweight rucks, and two different sets of tropical/ALICE packs.

My experience with Value Gear is the same: quick shipping and nice li’l bits of resin.

+2 for VG. Went with set 01 myself and some other sets in a few different scales.
