I know the Hase kit has some tricky fit issues, but the price was right at my local shop (the D kit has all of the B parts). I will be using TwoBobs decals and need to decide on one of the four schemes. How it started:

As described earlier, here is the “challenging” fit behind the wings, along with the gaps left from cutting out the flaps; time to break out the styrene strip and filler!
Yeah, it seems this area is bad on a lot of kits. Good luck with it.
Getting close, looks like a few spots that need some filler and a final sanding. Then it will be time to work on the intakes and front fuselage seams 
Slowly but surely, it’s coming along. 
A few progress pics to share… lower and rear fuselage seams are ready for a quick spray; I also scratched the ribs that will show when the flaps are down. I think the Academy kit has this molded on - mine are a little overscale:

Stormy day today, I made some progress on the little Hornet. Most of the fuselage is now done, but the Modern Hobbies nose will need some blending:
I also started fitting the flaps using .015 wire for hinges - should allow some fine tuning when attaching the wings:
Coming along nicely. I agree you should be able to do some adjustments to the flaps by using the wire. Good idea!
I squeezed in a little modeling this weekend, attached the inner pylons and the wings to the fuselage:

Flaps and leading edge slats are on! Working on the flap cover final shape/fit before attaching them (the white .010 styrene parts on the mat). Not crazy difficult, just some straight up modeling work.
