Vietnam era olive drab

Need some help determining what is the proper shade for Vietnam era olive drab. I know that A/C OD was a darker shade than WWII OD. but not sure about Vietnam. Any help would be appreciated.

Tamiya TS-5 Spray is a nice dark shade of OD that work on Vietnam War era vehicles.

the actual colour can be very hard to pin down as different places used different brands of paint which would be different shades and you can not rely on reference pictures as Museum ones have been repainted and not necessarily the correct colour and old in country pictures can vary how the colour looks due to different film stock and cameras used. eg these 2 pictures are of the same carrier in Vietnam and our tribute to it here in New Zealand that is supposedly the same colour (was an Australian carrier commanded by a kiwi) this is the same man in the drivers seat 54 years apart (1969 and 2023) and the son of the commander.

I recomend mixing it yourself.

I tried to get that really dark vietnam era olive drab by mixing simply black and yellow.

I like the result

Hello!
The match I like best is Humbrol 66 with a coat of future on top of that. Long time ago I matched that to an ammo can with some original paint on it, it’s 1:1 - when we’re talking about clean surfaces, of course. Dust, mud, washing the vehicle with diesel and fading can change the colour considerably.
Have a nice day
