since this is a paper tank I had some fun with it and scratch built a stowage bin added a ladder and some handrails from the academy t34
they didn’t get far enough along to design tow cable mounts and stuff I guess so I stole that from my king tiger kit
I bought a goliath remote bomb to go with it but i cant really mount it without resting it on one of the exhausts
i have the jack from the KT that i want to add too
tank still feels empty so please suggest more items to add
will be doing better armour texture soon
That thing is massive! Interesting paper panzer.
Randon ideas of things to possibly add to sides.
- Rack(s) for jerry cans
- Tool or stowage box(es) on side
- Spare track links
- Slogans like the Russian’s did on T-34’s & KV’s but pro 3rd Reich.
Like “Tod allen kommunistischen Schweinehund-Untermenschen” aka “Death to all communist pig dog subhumans” etc
- It’s own zip code for better postal service? (joking)
Full panzer 46 fantasy land, spaced bed spring armor, a 20mm Quad on top of the turret for AA defense, Zimmerit and externally mounted panzerfaust.
love the ideas kit dosent some with any spare track links so ill have to find some
do you know if the germans ever did wood or other spaced amour besides the bedsprings? ive seen some pathers with extra plates on the turret roof
Traditionally the bedspring bit is attributed to the Russian’s during the Battle of Berlin at end of war but certainly the German’s were always happy to copy.
I’ve seen pictures of German AFV’s with sand bags, track links (their own & from enemy AFV’s often T-34’s), wheels, spare armor plate, extra Pz IV bogie, Pz III engine ventilation cover etc all used as supplement armor.
The typical German spaced armor armoured skirts (Schürzen) see Pz III, Pz IV examples. Panthers & Tigers also had side skirts in many cases. Lots of later Pz III had spaced glacis and turret manlet armor. Example marked with blue line.
thanks
thanks
took a long time for new Tamiya putty to get here but here’s an update
armour texture and torch cuts still needs to be refined
still have some more stowage I want to add
idea of the photoetch plate on the turret is a nameplate or road sign ideas appreciated
also would like some ideas on what unit to make the tank belong to plan to hand paint most if not all markings
I also added detail like lifting eyes more tools and jacks to make the model feel less like a lifeless prototype
kinda taking inspiration from barbarosa stowage at its peak
the idea is that the tank would have to be somewhat self sufficient
still thinking of adding some additional armour but still experimenting
