Voting issues on feature articles

I must admit that I’ve not really looked at the Armorama features yet so far, but after writing one myself, when reading it back after it had been approved, I noticed several issues with the vote system at the bottom.

First of all, I tapped on one of the votes on my own article, and it registered. Though I can kind of see a logic for that, IMHO it’s unnecessary, if not actually undesirable, to let people vote on their own article.

Because of this, I tried tapping the same vote again, to see if it would take my vote off again. No such luck, it stayed at what it is. I then tried tapping another vote, to see if that would change it — but no, it registers an additional vote from me. With no way to undo any of them.

That had me curious, so I went to somebody else’s article and found I was able to pick two different votes there as well. So in theory, you can give all five votes for every article on the site …

I realise people probably won’t do this, because there’s not that much point, but it seems to me to be a bug. The site knows I already voted on an article, because it won’t register the same vote twice from me — but that means it shouldn’t be difficult to allow votes to be changed to a different category. Useful if somebody changes their mind, but especially if they clicked the wrong one by mistake. Also, implementing a way for people to withdraw their vote entirely should then also be easy (a “Withdraw vote” button that only appears if you have voted, for example).
