VW Beetle..circa 1982 Berlin Brigade

That’s what I get for searching for ‘super beetle’ only on Scalemates.

I was trying to avoid typing in just ‘Beetle’ and having to scroll through all the entries to see which was which. Laziness does not pay.

I started the same way than when looking at the Coke beetle lead me to those which I think it’s the convertible product map shows it to be a rebox of the Scale Craft kit.

Cheers guys. I said before though, the main emphasis on this was the cam scheme and it not being seen before. The Vdub bodyshape is pretty generic in most areas, so the one I picked was more than adequate for what I needed.

John, it’s going to be time for you soon to hit the shows and display your stuff I reckon. This little model is priceless, and your amour, what-if German stuff will all make an impact on the display tables I’m sure.

Hi Frank,

where exactly did you find these beetle pictures from “Berlin bulletin”? Can you maybe post a link? I am always looking for any new reference pictures of vehicles in this scheme. Thank you!

Andreas

Added The Times. I could of probably gone a bit bigger, but I will leave it as it is. You can make out the name and a few of the headlines. Thanks Pete @petbat. I will be leaving that as the last addition to the inside. I will secure them with a dab of PVA and crack on with the last bits and pieces.

Also finished the brown block masking ready for tomorrow…

It’s a fun little build this… And I’m glad you threw the idea at me Andreas @AKirchhoff :+1:

I was not sure how big the paper actually was but is does look good.

Lurking in the background, but I really like where this is going… I don’t think a curry wurst would fit in to the model. It is way too large!

Back then it was the old style full large sheet paper, so I think size wise it’s about there. I did a few different sizes and that looked about right, so thanks again Pete :+1:

Not much to update as I spent most of time on the T90 which I’ll update after this.

All the magazine’s and The Times are set in place now, just a few small dabs of PVA. Will defo get the brown blocks done tomorrow…

I don’t know, dude. Nice job, but still seems to be missing something.
I just whipped this up tonight. I had all the ingredients already. I can’t believe I never made this for my wife before. I even stopped at a local taco shop to get the little boats.

A shame I haven’t mastered teleportation yet - I’d send some your way.

Have done all the body touch painting now and it looks ok. Have also given the body a coat of Army Painter Matt varnish to seal it.

Also painted the glass surround trims black and will start fitting some of the chrome work and interior roof panel tomorrow… Will also get the wheels on the chassis … :+1:

Nothing exciting chaps sorry…
Wheels are on and everything is level… Phew !! Have begun the process of adding the chrome work, and I must say it looks pretty good.
Will get the internal roof fitted and the cabin into the body shell tomorrow once the paint drys on the inside of the shell.

Should all be finished in 2 or 3 days if I can get a couple of hours a night after work :+1:
