Well I said I would…
This is the only bit of the kit that has disappointed me up to now… Some parts of the chrome work, headlight surrounds for one.
They have done it so the sprue connects dead centre at the very top in plain sight.
Now, I have never used Chrome parts before so I don’t know if there’s a way car /auto builders cut off the Chrome parts, but to me there was no way to remove the part without damaging the chrome… It will be staying as it is sadly unless there is a way to get a bit of chrome effect back …I might of heard people mention a chrome pen ? Can’t remember…
Anyway, the chrome does look nice… And I need to do more silver layers on the from wing indicators.

Because there is no way, chrome is added on top of plastic so it cannot get under the sprue gate.
The pen that some use is molotow liquid chrome pen.

Cheers Ryan… That name rings a bell now. It is a shame about the chrome though…

I agree.
When I try chrome, I like to strip all the chrome. Then add whatever material back to be chrome back as one. It can be chrome pen, paint or bare metal foil. I think some have even sent parts back out for rechroming but know idea who or where that would be at what cost.

Yes I use the Molotow Chrome pen for the cylinders in hydraulics, mirrors, etc. They come in different sizes. I have even seen a video where a guy breaks open the pen and uses the liquid chrome in his airbrush!
He is a bit heavy handed here, but you get the drift…

Yep, you can try cleaning up the nub where you cut off the sprue, then touch it up with the chrome pen, that should fix it.

That would make a bichin gas tank. Minus the part that castrates the rider in the event of a collision.
That is what the armoured Cod piece is for…

Molotow 2mm pen ordered … should get here Monday

John, are they available in the UK? Or did you order from overseas? Gotta get me one…
Amazon, 1mm, 2mm 3mm and I think I saw a 4mil as well. Mine was £6 and they hover around 7 to 9. Sets are double that or a bit more, and you can get refills for 19 quid.
I think they only do 1mm, 2mm and 4 mm. There are other brands of liquid chrome pen and one of those does 3mm.
Wow, chisel tip. Definitely a new product. Cheers John.

I figured the 2mm was the safest option for me for the type of things I will be using it for ?

I have the 2mm and 4mm.
PS. Shake well before use.
Don’t keep rubbing the tip back on forth on where you have already painted it on the kit like some guys do That just lifts the slightly dried edges and ends up with lumps. If you have to, do it in a couple of layers, making sure it is dry in between.

I have an issue with the ink/paint/whatever seeming to separate after I’ve only had one for a little bit. I always store them upright just as they hang in the stores but they still turn into a grainy bright silver and don’t create the chrome effect when applied.
Interesting. I have had mine for 6 months and it still works fine.
I had that happen too. I don’t know if there is a fix for it, but I found a work around. The ink (or whatever it is) is still good, the problem is in the pen. So I pull the end off, and use a paintbrush dipped in the ink and hand paint it.

Spotlights.
Sawn off round ends from the flame thrower cylinders from the Tamiya weapons set, some round plasti rod, and the molotow chrome pen will hopefully turn in to 2 front mounted spots on the bumper.
Have also made a start on the glasswork going in.
