Looking good- picture is a bit out of focus though. The skin tones are picked out well- as is the 5 o’clock shadow and the lip color
Yes, the light was not ideal for taking the picture. I will take a better one later.
The bust is a machine gunner from the 1 US infantry division in Normandy. I want to show him after a days’ battle: tired with bleary eyes and a stubble and pale…
Thanks for your kind observations…
First foray beyond WW2 & Cold War, so definitely new subject matter. I picked the T-80UK because it’s a new Ryefield Model’s release. My T-80 builds from the early 1990’s were trashed due to being poorly built and badly painted
How badly painted? The oil washes were made with REAL Turpentine
.
Anyway 12 hours later, zero parts broken, one lost guide tooth and the tracks were assembled.
With the tracks wrapped, still working out of sequence decided to assemble the road wheels & sprockets.
Edited for progress
Speed painted the crew of the HP. Heyford Jet , did it the easy way, looks far god enough for me. There will be build some BIG weapons later .
Ah, the joys of the hotel build.
Those roasted potatoes, onions, and garlic sure were good! I pulled the rosemary off of a bush growing out of a pot on an overpass in Seattle.
I think you corrected the left pupil too. Great work.
Both left and right… Sharp!
Yes, that’s much better- you have both eyes evenly done and of a similar size and shape with a living highlight all sorted- eyes are easily the trickiest bit of face painting in this scale.
True… I find them indeed the hardest: left is ok, but to get right also correct is harder. Maybe it is because I am left handed and find the nose to be in the way.
Did you try to sell them tickets?
Look,but no touch!!!
The cats are the ultimate judges of his work.
Cat 1 - Hmmm; you think he’s using the wrong shade?
Cat 2 - I think so… Who’s going to tell him?
Cat 3 - My food bowl is empty…
Yeah you will usually find left or right eyes are harder based on which hand you use to paint! Some say you should do the left eye first if you’re right handed and vice versa.
Looking great. A tiny bit of red on the cheeks blended
I will try with the next figure I paint.
@18bravo I did try that in the past, but somehow getting them symmetrical is much harder that way…
@keavdog Thanks! I want to display the figure being pale from being tired (hence also the blood shot eyes). Red cheeks do not fit into that picture in my opinion…
