Evergreen has a clear sheets at 0.005, 0.010 and 0.015 thickness.
Here in the Netherlands we have salads packed in cleat thin plastic and sliced meats (for on your sandwich) that have an clear plastic tray, I used them for my spinning propellors, I bet you could find something similar in your local supermarket?
Meanwhile, my IDF77-build Hobby-boss Puma is getting closer and closer to the finishline…
Hi Bert,
Thanks for that, I know what you mean.
Nothing around the house like that and not going out for a few days. I ordered some Evergreen clear sheets from Amazon that’ll be here in a day or three.
Thanks Tank, ordered today.
First time shooting auto hi-build polyurethane from a Model Master AB@.8 needle. I love the metallic color (the pigment is too large for this scale but I’m testing for the full size version). I got a couple small runs and some streaking so my technique needs some work- I’ll also need a wider fan pattern on the next coat. But I still can’t wait to shoot the Candy Red over this.
I’ll be doing satin black trim & bumpers.
wow this is awesome.
That is one busy looking vehicle… Good work!
I’ve been busy with site work:
The color and texture extravaganza
About half of the ground is about half-way painted - the white/grey areas are raw material with no colors/washes yet.
Cheers
Nick
Outdoing yourself, again and again … and did I mention, again! …

Seeing as I have a couple shermans in my stash, back in June decided I should work on a few of them. I’ve beem working on them bit at a time. First is a Dragon M4A3 75 W, worked on the turret and it’s looking mostly done. The M2 is from an Auska kit, two M2’s per pack. Styene rod for the raised mortar opening, the cap is some part I found on one of the sprues and some fine chain. Went with a vision copula and the turret M2 monting using bits found the the extra sprues in the kit. Based it loosely on pictures I came across. Coming along I think.
And of course a Dragon M4A2 76 W base kit, Went with a spare 75 mm turret and some bits from a Tamiya sherman. I ended up breaking the light guards and found some Tamiya ones along witht the plates for the dry storage shermans. And Comrade Emchka is carrying a big stick
Seems the sherman was quite capable of carrying the S-53 85mm gun and saw some consideration. Not quite done with the turret, saw an image showing some shermans with hand rails welded on the turret sides and I kind of really want to add them and some tank riders.
Today was my black primer painting day. I already told you (I think) that I got into the habit of doing preshading with different primers. Accordingly, tomorrow will be a brown primer day.
Today I had a second look at the Miniman Factory M916. I hate doing it but I’m going to scrap this project. The kit pieces are poorly molded, the dimensions are wrong in many cases, the instructions are vague and critically, the parts’ identifying system is ridiculous.
Miniman Factory, I’d glad you went out of business. I’m glad I only bought two of your crappy kits!!!
Frank, I love your builds. I don’t like to be critical just for the sake of it. God knows I’m no aviation expert. However in every aircraft walk around I have the starboard navigation lights appear blue when not lit up,
These are admittedly rotary wing, from my Intrepid visit a gew months back:
The closest I could find to green was this P-51 in Addison, and even it appears more blue than green:
Perhaps a custom mix of clear blue and clear green?
I wouldn’t give up hope on the M916. You could convert the M915 into one like I did w/the M920. It’s actually easier as you don’t need to extend the frame nor add the extra load axle. All you need is a powered front axle, transfer case, front drive shaft, and a winch for the rear or the cab.
Small world Gino, I’d just replied to 18 Bravo telling him I was probably going that route.
Makes good sense!
